About

Bodybuilders train to develop all bodyparts and muscles to maximum size, but in balance, proportion and harmony. There should be no “weak points” or underdeveloped muscles. Moreover, they should display a bodyfat level as low as possible and remove the underskin water to show the quality of muscles: density, separation and definition.

These qualities are displayed during physique assessment rounds when performing the mandatory poses during comparisons of competitors. Bodybuilders pose barefoot, in posing trunks.

There is also a routine round when bodybuilders display their physique during a 60-second free posing routine performed to the music of their choice. It is an artistic presentation, including compulsory and non-compulsory poses and other type of movements.

Posing Attire

  • Competitors will wear one-colored, posing trunks which are clean and decent. The color, fabric, texture and style of the trunks will be left to the competitor’s discretion.
  • No thongs are permitted.
  • The trunks will cover a minimum of ¾ of the gluteus maximus.
  • Except for a wedding ring, competitors will not wear footwear, ornamentation or artificial aids to the figure.
  • Implants or fluid injections causing the change of the natural shape of any other parts or muscles of the body are strictly prohibited and may result in disqualification of the competitor.
  • The use of props during the Prejudging or Finals presentation is strictly prohibited.
  • The use of tans and bronzers that can be wiped off is not allowed. If the tan comes off by simply wiping, the athlete will not be allowed to enter the stage. Artificial body coloring and self-tanning products may be used provided that it is applied at least twenty-four hours prior to the Prejudging. Professional competition tanning methods (airbrush tanning, cabin spray tanning) may be used if applied by the professional companies and qualified personnel. Sparkles, glitter, shiny metallic pearls or gold coloring are prohibited whether applied as part of a tanning lotion or applied separately, regardless of who applied them on the competitor’s body.
  •  Body oils may be used in moderation.

Posing Music

  • Posing music will be used at the Finals.
  • Posing music must be on a CD and must be the only music on the CD.
  • Posing music must be cued to the start of the music.
  • Posing music must not contain vulgar lyrics. Competitors using music containing vulgar lyrics will be disqualified.
